about
In June 2016 my good friend Jim Boyd passed. He was not only a musician - he was also the chairman of the Colville Confederated Tribes in Washington State, USA.
And he had Swiss roots. His grandfather left Switzerland in 1920 and married a Native American. My good buddy Charly Juchler and I invited Jim Boyd several times to Switzerland where he performed in countless concerts. He was member of the Arrow Lakes Band or Sinixt.
This song is dedicated to him and our friendship ...
lyrics
O Helo
I heard your song – and I heard your voice
Was it destiny – I had no choice
Brought you back to our grandfathers' roots
Felt like brothers walking in the same boots
And my world got a little bit warmer, a little bit brighter, a little lighter
'cause I met you
And our worlds got a little bit smaller, a little bit closer, a little bit wider
The reservation holds you strong and tight
You served the young & old – kept the culture alive
You touched peoples hearts – sang a song for every need
You walked the talk – but there were to many to feed
And my world got a little bit colder, a little bit darker, a little bit sadder
'cause you're gone
And our world got a little bit harder, a little bit poorer, a little bit weaker
I hear you laughing – I hear me cry
It's hard down here to understand why
You just changed the room – now your spirit roams free
Feel your presence now right next to me
And my world gets a little bit warmer, a little bit brighter, a little bit lighter
'cause I love you
And my world gets a little bit higher, a little bit wiser, a little bit wilder
O Helo, O Helo, O Helo, O Helo
Weya Helo, Weya Helo, O Helo, O Helo …
